Youth aren’t the leaders of tomorrow. They’re leaders today.

The City of Edmonton Youth Council provides a youth lens to Edmonton City Council. It’s a group of 25 voting members, age 13-23, and upwards of 60 more members at large, who help City Council to understand youth perspectives and to factor young people’s ideas into their strategic planning.

We were brought in to help CEYC develop a more substantive and professional voice on social media. We provide training, mentorship and day-to-day social media support, so that the youth have a platform to share their ideas with the city.

As always, we started with a foundational communications strategy so the Youth Council could hone their voice, articulate their values, and understand their audiences in order to create conversations that matter.

Through video and photography, we help them to frame their own thoughts and ideas around the issues they care about, and share their own voices through their Instagram platform. We also provide professional training and mentorship to teach social media literacy.
